Most Awesomest Thing Ever
Well, it’s been almost a month now and it’s still the thing LeighStarDust is telling people when they say ‘and how are you’?
She’s very famous, thank you!
On July the 28th and 29th she got to sing with one of her favouritist ever Adelaide bands (The Scholars) and also with a little back up band she likes to call ‘26 members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’. And those kids were not too bad. They’re going to go far in this town, as Matty B would say. Specially seeing as they’ve got the word ‘Adelaide’ in their name. People love to be name dropped. If only they were called ‘26 members of the Radelaide Symphony Orchestra’. What they have works pretty nicely though.
LeighStarDust has been very lucky to have done many different kinds of musical things in Adelaide. She’s played gigs with nearly everyone, sang or played keyboard on lots of people’s creative endeavours and jumped all over television and radio. Singing with the Scholars and the ASO in front of 900 people over two nights was definitely a big highlight.
All sorts of things made it completely rad, and of course a LeighStarDust doesn’t sing and tell, so some things can’t be talked about until the expose on Parkinson comes out. But here are some of the grouse things:
- Getting to hang out with Jamie and Ben. Awesome;
- Getting to meet lots of great new friends, one of whom can play the tuba (?) and one who is Taran;
- Sitting in on rehearsals. This is one of LeighStarDust’s favourite things ever. And the ASO + Scholars + Dom the conductor were so good at rehearsing that it was amazing to sit and watch them at work;
- Getting to hang out with Miss Sarah Masters and the Little Ice Agers, who were all being bits of the Polyphonic Spree and Ben Harper. You’ll have to ask them yourselves which part they got to be;
- Singing through the kicky-arseist kick arse PA system ever. I sounded huge!;
- Hearing ‘They Make Good Pets’ done by millions more musicians than usual - with a fantabulous arrangement. Particularly hearing the casio programmed beat played with real live percussion instruments. And the bit that Denni wrote even got orchestrated!;
- Getting to do some very fancy choreography;
- Yelling ‘hi Mum and Dad’ in front of 450 people;
Hooray! A million thank yous Jamie, for such a wonderful experience.

I wished I’d seen They Make Good Pets like that… We are also highly anticipating your E.P., R For Radz. I hope you do something like that with the orchestra again and I can come see it this time.

he he. cheers nick. maybe i’ll title it ‘Yay For Nick’. I think that’s the kind of thing the kids of today want to hear.. much more than stuff about pirates!!

Hey there, just a note to say that I haven’t been reading blogs at work like I used to… our department was sent an email saying “Oi, everyone stop surfing all day long,” so I thought I’d only check hotmail for a while. And do some banking. And check the paper. Anyway youtube, livejournal and a dozen blogs is bound to raise some eyebrows, as I’m sure it has already, so I’ll check less frequently at home now, or even less if I move… It’s been swell anyway! Let’s go bowling as discussed when you have a free night sometime soon. Adios, blog.
